Steven Gerrard has revealed that he would be open to a return to Liverpool FC if the club came calling for him. Image Credits: Imago Images There is perhaps no name more synonymous with Liverpool Football Club than Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard also spoke on the Overlap this week, and amid all the turmoil at Anfield this campaign, was asked if he still dreams of being the manager of Liverpool Football Club in the future: “I’ve got a brilliant connection with the club, probably a stronger connection since I left. Any area I could help the club in I would always try and do it,” he replied before asserting he probably was not ready to the Liverpool manager: “Do I want to manage Liverpool sometime in my life?
Probably not.” He then revealed that he would be open to a return as an assistant to an “elite” manager that may come in the future: “It depends who it is, how the conversation goes, and does he need me? What does he think I can offer?” “You’d have to understand it before you sign up to it, what the role is, and it’s to support the manager, it’s to be that assistant.” “I would do it for Liverpool Football Club if I was asked and they felt that I was the right man to do it, I’d be up for it, of course.” Gerrard is not positioning himself as Slot’s replacement; he is simply leaving a door open.
