Arne Slot’s fall from grace in the eyes of the fans this season has been quite something, though Liverpool still like the manager.Despite suffering the most Premier League defeats of any Reds coach since 2014/15, the current news is that Slot is staying and will be in charge from 2026/27.That may well change if Liverpool somehow don’t qualify for the Champions League in the next three games, but those in a position of power at Anfield still think he needs a chance to put things right. Before that, the manner in which he had transformed Feyenoord’s fortunes massively impressed them. “Slot has made mistakes this season but the stance until now has been that he deserves the opportunity to put things right.”It is time for Arne Slot to goWhile the decision makers are backing Slot, it is starting to feel like they are the only ones who actually believe in the manager.Matchgoing fans have turned on the coach amid what can only be described as one of the worst seasons in the last decade. There have been no improvements since the start of the campaign, and if anything, Liverpool look worse. The players no longer seem to want to give their all for the manager and nobody apart from Hughes and Edwards can really come up with a good reason he should stay.Let’s be honest, though, Slot will stay this summer but will still probably need to be let go in the first half of 2026/27 anyway.Join Our NewsletterReceive a digest of our best Liverpool content each week direct to your mailbox
